01Before the day: choose your stops
Start with the Orange Line timetable. Find Babylonstoren and Boschendal, follow the route from your departure and look at the pickups that would let you spend time at each.
This is a suggested two-estate day, so the order comes from your timetable. If you are taking the Cape Town day trip, confirm the available line first. That trip lasts about 8½ hours including both road journeys, and your estate visits must fit before the coach returns.
02First stop: explore before moving on
If Babylonstoren comes first on your departure, spend the visit walking through the garden and choosing a wine tasting or a stop at the farm shops. Give yourself time to enjoy the estate before heading back to the pickup point.
If your route brings you to Boschendal first, begin there instead. Keep the same idea: one substantial visit followed by an estate lunch, with the route setting the order.
03Lunch: settle in at your chosen estate
Boschendal has the Deli and picnic options. At Babylonstoren, choose Babel for a reserved restaurant meal or the Greenhouse for lighter food and walk-in tables.
A Wine Tram booking does not reserve lunch. Use the restaurant guide to book directly and allow enough time between arrival and your table reservation.
04Afternoon: leave time for the return
After lunch, enjoy the rest of the estate before catching your planned departure. Add another winery only if the timetable leaves enough time for a visit and the journey back.
At large estates, the ride from the tram platform to the tasting area uses some of your stop. The Wine Tram’s planning advice recommends at least two hours at both Babylonstoren and Boschendal. Two visits can fill the day without another tasting squeezed in at the end.
05Frequently asked questions
Is this a fixed tour itinerary?
No. It is a suggested day using two Orange Line estates. Your departure timetable determines their order and the time available at each.
Can I visit four or five wineries instead?
Some departures allow more stops if you keep each visit short. Choose fewer when you want to explore gardens or sit down for lunch.
What should I book ahead?
Book the Wine Tram and any restaurant or estate activity that matters to your day. Leave the remaining time free for exploring.
