03Stellenbosch wineries with a Wine Tram ride
The Full-Day Wine Tasting Tour with Wine Tram begins with Cape Town pickup and a visit to Stellenbosch. The route takes in Lanzerac and Tokara or a similar estate before continuing to Franschhoek for a lunch break and tram travel.
Allow about 9½ hours for the complete outing. Transport, a guide and tram tickets are included. Review tasting inclusions for the ticket you choose and allow separately for lunch. Choose this when you want both the Stellenbosch visits and time on the tram within one arranged day.

04A private tour for your group
Wine Tours South Africa offers a scheduled private itinerary through Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, with tastings and pairings included and lunch paid separately. It is an option when you want a guided day with your own travelling party.
View the private itinerary with the operator. For a comparison with arranging your own driver, read the private Franschhoek wine tour guide.
05Both regions or a day on the Wine Tram?
Choose both regions when seeing different parts of the Winelands matters more than spending longer at each stop. The route is arranged around the road journey, winery visits and return to Cape Town.
Choose the Franschhoek Wine Tram day trip if the tram and its estate stops are the main reason for going. That experience includes the return coach and a one-day hop-on-hop-off ticket, with tastings and food paid for at the estates. It does not include a Stellenbosch sightseeing stop.
06Frequently asked questions
Does every Stellenbosch and Franschhoek tour include the Wine Tram?
No. Choose a tour that explicitly includes tram tickets if the ride matters to you. A visit to Franschhoek can be a town stop or an estate visit without any tram travel.
Are all the wine tastings and lunch included?
No. Some tickets cover transport and a guide, while others add tastings or a meal. Compare the total for the experience you want rather than the lowest ticket price alone.
Can I stay longer at a particular estate?
A group tour follows its itinerary. If a long lunch or a specific winery is central to your plans, discuss a private itinerary before booking.
