01Find the map for your line
Open the Wine Tram route pages and choose the colour you want to travel on. The line map shows the estates on that route; the departure timetable puts them in order for your journey.
| Line | Some of the estates you can reach |
|---|---|
| Blue | Holden Manz, La Bri and Maison |
| Green | Allée Bleue, Bartinney and Boschendal |
| Orange | Babylonstoren, Boschendal and Plaisir |
| Pink | Chamonix, Dieu Donné and Leopard’s Leap |
| Red | Haute Cabrière, Eikehof and Mont Rochelle |
Franschhoek Cellar, Grande Provence and Rickety Bridge appear on Blue, Pink and Red. The complete estate directory shows all stops. For help choosing between them, read which Wine Tram line is best.
02Find your starting terminal
Franschhoek Terminal is at Main Road and Cabrière Street. Groot Drakenstein Terminal is at the R45 and R310 junction. They serve different parts of the network, with a connecting shuttle for relevant departures.
Use the check-in point on your confirmation when planning your arrival. A terminal connection may form part of your booked departure, so do not choose a boarding point simply because it looks closer to an estate on the map.
03Read your timetable
Read down a departure column to follow the vehicle along the route. Read across an estate’s row to find later pickups from that stop. This lets you choose an arrival and a departure before deciding how much to do there.
For example, if you want lunch and a tasting at the same estate, look for a later pickup that leaves time for both. Remember to include the journey between the tram stop and the estate facilities.
04Follow the route in one direction
Each line moves in one direction. Get off when you reach an estate you want to visit; you cannot return to a skipped stop later on the same journey.
Plan the last part of your day as carefully as the first. Find the departure that gets you back for your onward transport, then fit your final estate visit before it. The one-day itinerary gives you a starting point.
05Frequently asked questions
Does one ticket cover every line?
No. Your standard ticket is for the line and departure you book.
Is the entire route on rails?
No. Rail trams and tram buses work together to reach the estates along each line.
Can I visit every estate shown on the map?
Treat the map as a choice of stops. The number you can visit depends on your departure, how long you stay and when you need to return.
