Wine Tram guide

Franschhoek Wine Tram Prices and Total Cost

Your Wine Tram budget includes the ticket, your journey to Franschhoek and anything you spend at the estates. A tram-only ticket covers one hop-on-hop-off line; the Cape Town day trip also includes the return coach. Wine tastings and meals cost extra with both, so compare the complete day before choosing your ticket.

02How much should you allow for tastings?

The Wine Tram’s price guidance gives a general tasting range of R60–R260 per person. Each estate sets its own prices, and specialist tastings can cost more.

Using that range, two tastings would add R120–R520 per person before food. This is a planning example, not a fixed tasting package. Choose the experiences you want at each estate and pay for them separately.

03Add lunch and estate activities

A light meal and a restaurant lunch will give you different totals. Choose where you want to eat, then look at the restaurant’s menu before setting your food budget. The Wine Tram lunch guide links to the dining options.

Allow separately for cellar tours or other paid experiences. Babylonstoren also has an entrance fee, so include admission when planning a visit there.

04Compare the total for your group

Add tickets and return transport first, then allow for the tastings and meals each person wants. A shared transfer cost may look different when divided between several travellers; tasting and food costs depend on individual choices.

The Cape Town transport guide compares the coach trip with arranging your own journey. Choose the option that fits both your budget and the way you want to spend the day.
